Harry Owen

Harry Owen, the inaugural Poet Laureate for Cheshire (UK) in 2003, moved to South Africa’s Eastern Cape in January 2008. His work is widely published in literary journals and anthologies in the UK, USA and South Africa.

He is the author of five poetry collections:

• Searching for Machynlleth (NPF, Fareham, UK; 2000)
• The Music of Ourselves (Cheshire CC, Chester, UK; 2004)
• Five Books of Marriage (Authorhouse, Bloomington, USA; 2008)
• Non-Dog (Poets Printery, East London, RSA; 2010)
• Worthy: poems for my father (Poets Printery, East London, RSA; 2011).

Harry is a widely experienced performer, teacher and workshop facilitator who also hosts the hugely popular monthly open-floor poetry event called Reddits Poetry in Grahamstown, where he lives.
In 2012 his poetry features in the English Olympiad anthology Small Town, Big Voice along with that of Chris Mann and Don Maclennan.
